Updated Mazda CX-3 Brings Safety, Refinement

For 2017, Mazda has updated the feature list for their newest (and smallest) model in their crossover/SUV line-up, the CX-3. It’s very much the same car we know today, but moving forward will include some rather pack-leading safety tech.

In addition to the new G-Vectoring Control system that will permeate every Mazda model (though right now it’s gone as far as the CX-5 and Mazda6, and Mazda3), the real headlining feature addition here is the autonomous emergency braking (AEB) even into the entry-level CX-3 Neo, though in Mazda-speak it’s referred to as Smart City Brake Support.

Moving up the variant hierarchy to the Maxx and sTouring brings even more pre-collision technology such as Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Blind Spot Monitoring. The top-spec Akari, though, tops things off with Traffic Sign Recognition and Driver Attention Alert along with adaptive LED headlights and front parking sensors.

The 2017 updates also comes with more than just safety features, as important as those are. Mazda paid special attention to improving the driving experience for all occupants by focusing NVH, or rather the reducing the intrusive effects of road noise, wind noise, tyre noise, and engine vibrations - resulting a quieter and more enjoyable driving experience.

Speaking of the interior, there’s now a new design steering wheel, improved meter graphics, a manual seat lifter, power seats with position memory, digital radio and a coloured Active Driving Display are available on selected grades across the range.
