Toyota has shrugged-off global recalls of 2010 and supply issues stemming from the Japanese earthquake/tsunami to retain its leadership of automotive brands in the prestigious annual global brand value survey conducted by Interbrand.
Called the Interbrand Best Global Brands Report, the annual results analyze financial performance, the role of the brand in consumer purchase decisions and earnings strength.
Despite its well-publicized challenges in recent times, in the 2011 report, Toyota improved its performance by six percentage points and secured 11th place overall (best of the automotive brands).
“Even though Toyota faced both an internal crisis and an external crisis, the company forged ahead by focusing on safety and quality, modifying its leadership structure and capitalizing on its world-renown green efforts,” the report concluded.
