Toyota has confirmed next month’s Frankfurt Motor Show will see the debut of its new plug-in hybrid Prius model in final production form.
At the heart of the new Toyota Prius is a new lithium-ion battery which is more compact but offers an extended range.
Fuel consumption is down to the remarkable figure of 2.2l/100kms (almost 50 per cent less than the current Prius) and exhaust C02 emissions have been cut to 49g/km.
On sale next year in Europe, the new plug-in Hybrid Prius will be joined by the new seven-seat Prius+ and a hybrid version of the new Yaris compact.
