The Prius secured the number one position because the third generation model is the biggest and most powerful to date and boasts additional high-tech options.

Locally the Prius has the market-leading lowest exhaust emissions of 89g/km, fuel consumption of just 3.9l/100kms and has a five-star rating in the federal Government’s Green Vehicle Guide.

Kelley Blue Book requires vehicles in its Top 10 to provide fuel economy and exhaust emissions that are better than the bulk of vehicles in their market segment as well as safety, creature comforts and driving enjoyment that would be appreciated by owners.

The publication praised the Prius for its smart petrol-electric hybrid technology plus other features such as the glass moonroof with inbuilt solar-powered ventilation, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and voice-activated navigation.
