Toyota Launches Yaris Edge Special Edition
Good news for Australian compact car buyers with Toyota firing a shot in our small car price war – the value-packed Yaris Edge Special Edition.
Hot on the heels of Suzuki launching its $12,490 Alto model, Toyota’s limited edition ‘Edge’ Yaris carries an extra $1,000 worth of extra specifications for just $500.
Prices start from $16,190 for the three-door Yaris Edge (manual transmission).
Based on the YR three and five-door Yaris models, ‘Edge’ limited editions gain the 15-inch alloy wheels fitted to YRX models (replacing 14-inch steel wheels) and foglights.
Inside the single CD player is replaced by a six-stack system with LCD display, Bluetooth phone and audio streaming and USB connection. There are also ‘Edge’ branded floormats with brushed aluminum logos.
Under the bonnet is Toyota’s 1.3-litre VVT-I four-cylinder engine that delivers 63kW/121Nm.
Yaris is currently Australia’s best-selling compact car (Toyota has lead that market segment for the last six years).
With combined cycle fuel economy of 6.0l/100kms (manual transmission), the Yaris can travel 700kms on one tank of fuel (42-litre capacity).
It’s low emissions has seen the Yaris gain a five-star rating on the federal Government’s Green Vehicle Guide.
Standard features include twin front airbags, air-conditioning, anti-lock brakes with brake assist and electronic brakeforce distribution, power windows and mirrors, seatbelt pretensioners and force limiters for the front seats and electric power steering.
A $750 optional enhanced safety pack includes side and curtain airbags.
