Toyota Says Internal Combustion Dead By 2050

Formidable American weekly magazine Newsweek has announced that Toyota is the world’s greenest automaker, ranking in the top-20 eco-conscious companies in the world. In the cross-industry ranking, Toyota sat in 16th position, with L’Oreal topping the list.

The first runner up was Daimler, which came in at 45th overall, with Hyundai taking third place at 68th overall. Newsweek ranks based on various criteria, including the amount of water consumed in operations, the amount of waste produced, and the amount of energy consumed.

Naturally, Toyota is overjoyed with the results of Newsweek’s Top 500 ranking, saying that it serves as a recognition of the company’s long-standing efforts to be ecologically sound in both the products it makes as well as in its day-to-day operations.

In addition to Toyota’s efforts with hybrid cars, Hanley made mention of the three Mirai fuel-cell vehicles that have been roaming our streets as part of an educational effort to bring greater awareness to hydrogen technology and the potential it has as a fuel of the future.
