Toyota has announced a recall for petrol and diesel 4WD model Toyota HiLux vehicles manufactured between January 2005 and February 2010. All-up that amounts to 116,507 HiLuxes.
The recall is to rectify tailshaft center bearing support brackets.
Toyota has received reports of failures in rural areas when HiLuxes are frequently accelerated and braked on poor, rough roads. Only 19 cases have been reported.
Affected owners will be contacted by Toyota to arrange an appointment with a Toyota dealer. The rectification work will be free of charge.
Toyota says the recall is a preventative action and owners can confidently continue to drive their HiLuxes.
