Well not really a gamble, it’s just that the Japanese giant chose the world’s gambling capital, Las Vegas to unveil the fourth-generation of its top-selling hybrid model.
All-new Toyota Prius will also be unveiled next week at the Frankfurt Motor Show and will be launched in Australia early next year.
Aside from the head-turning new looks, the all-new Toyota Prius introduces some major technical advances.
Underneath is a new stiffer chassis, the first of Toyota’s ‘Next Generation Architecture’ which includes a new double wishbone rear suspension – we’re told to expect promises improved driving dynamics and enhanced passenger protection.
Major changes under the bonnet too with Toyota’s engineers obsessing in reducing the size and weight of components for the hybrid system .
The petrol engine is now claimed to be world’s best for thermal efficiency at 40 per-cent – in itself a significant boost for fuel efficiency.
Toyota says the all-new Prius will be more planted on the road and more spacious inside as it is 60mm longer, 15mm wider and 20mm lower than the current model.
And as you can see in the pics, the interior is much better – sporty looking seats and a handsome centre stack immediately obvious.
Safety features step-up too with a pre-collision system, lane departure alert, active cruise control and automatic high beam all on the list.
