Toyota Corolla Best Selling in May

Toyota Corolla and HiLux were Australia’s best-selling vehicles in May – the Corolla claiming the honour as overall best-selling vehicle for the second consecutive month. Toyota sold 19,003 vehicles in May and year to-date is more than 40,000 vehicles ahead of second-placed Mazda.

With May sales of 8,293, Holden was slightly ahead of Mazda (8,135), Hyundai (8,027) and Ford (7,243).

Year-to-date Mazda is incredibly maintaining its position as Australia’s second best-selling brand with total sales of 42,720 vehicles. In May, the Mazda2 remained our most popular compact car with sales of 1,236 while the BT50 ute had its best-ever may with sales of 1,204.

Hyundai racked-up its tenth consecutive record-breaking month and it’s May total of 8,027 is not only a ‘best-ever’ for the month, it is 16.6 per-cent up on May last year.

Mitsubishi has surged, recording 7,011 sales in May (36 per-cent up on May 2012) to beat Nissan (5,928 into sixth position. In fact, Mitsubishi’s 28,072 sales January – May is the company’s best since it became a full-line importer and comes on the back of record sales for SUVs and light commercial vehicles.

In the battle of the luxury car brands, Mercedes-Benz remained on-top with May sales of 2,373, ahead of BMW with 1,703.
