Fuel Economy gain for Camry
Toyota has unveiled a mid-life facelift for the Camry, Australia’s best-selling mid-size vehicle for the past 15 years.
Now on-sale nationally, the new Camry features revised styling inside and out plus engine/transmission upgrades responsible for an 11 per cent improvement in economy for the volume-selling automatic models (down to 8.8l/100kms). Performance remains unchanged with 117kW/218Nm.
Even the fitment of LED taillights as part of the styling changes has contributed to Camry’s better fuel consumption – they consume less energy than conventional bulbs.
Automatic Camry Ateva and Sportivo models have been reduced in price by $1,260 and while the entry-level Altise manual has risen to $29,990, the Altise automatic retains the same price (also $29,990).
Exterior changes include a new front end with feature lines on the bonnet, more chrome and curved grille bars on Altise, Ativa and Grande models. Sportivo gets a black lattice pattern for the grille and lower intake plus a re-designed front spoiler that is wide and low.
Minor changes are noticeable around the rear too with extra chrome for the Grande.
Altise gets a new seven-spoke cap for its 16-inch steel wheels, Ateva scores a new seven-spoke 16-inch alloy and Sportivo and Grande secure new five-spoke 17-inch wheels.
Inside are new trim colours, seat materials and revised instrumentation. All models now have Bluetooth connectivity.
