When Akio Toyoda, President of Toyota, the world’s number one car company speaks, the entire automotive industry listens.

So there’s real significance in the company brining back its 1980’s corporate slogan ‘Fun To Drive’ – this time as ‘Fun To Drive. Again’.

That significance has many components. But perhaps the most significant is seen in the starring role of the Toyota 86 Sports Coupe. Toyota also showed the Prius plug-inn hybrid, FCV-R fuell cell vehicle and FT-EV III electric vehicle, but as Akio Toyoda said: “I hope that motor vehicles will continue to provide dreams and inspiration to people for all eras. I believe that if it is not fun, it is not a car.”

Indicating a future for vehicles like the 86, Toyota’s President said future choices by new car buyers will not be limited to a choice between electric or hybrid.

“It is unlikely that there will be only one choice. I believe that various types of vehicles will be used for different applications through maximizing the advantages of their individual strengths,” Akio Toyoda explained. “Personally I Love the smell of gasoline and the sound of an engine, so I hope that this yyupe of vehicle never disappears.”

“It is for this reason that we are committed to making cars that will evoke this feeling of ‘Fun To drive, Again’ in as many people as possible,” he added.
