When giants like Toyota and Panasonic get together the outcome can only be good so news of a collaboration on cloud-based car-to-home technology is intriguing.
To be presented at the upcoming ‘Smart Community Japan 2014’ exhibition in Tokyo, the new technology will link your car to home appliances.
For example, your car’s GPS will remind you to turn-off your home air-conditioner if you exit the driveway with it still running. Similarly, sitting in your car on the way home you will be able to activate the home system so your abode is either toasty or cool when you arrive.
The system cleverly links Toyota’s current cloud-based Toyota Smart Centre - which already links people, cars and homes - with Panasonic’s home appliance controls.
All we need now is a Toyota-Panasonic robot to take-out the trash and bring the bin back in when it’s empty.
