Massive advances in battery technology are rolling out of Japan
Underlining the massive advances in battery technology rolling out of Japan, Toyota and Lexus have announced an eight year/160,000 kms warranty for batteries fitted to the Prius and Lexus hybrid models – GS, RX and LS.
The Prius warranty applies to every car sold since 2001 and the Lexus warranty is also retrospective back to 2006 when the first Lexus hybrid model was sold.
In the hot, humid conditions of Cairns in FNQ, several Prius taxis have covered more than 400,000kms on their original battery – Toyota says for private customers, that’s the equivalent of more than 20 years of normal driving.
The extended warranty adds to the already compelling argument for both private and fleet customers to consider hybrids for their next vehicle purchase.
