‘The fastest, most engaging, best equipped and most beautiful series-production super car yet’…well understatement has never been the way at McLaren and there’s little doubt its Geneva Motor Show debutant the 650S has what it takes to support those claims.
Available as a coupe or an open-top ‘Spider’ the McLaren 650S joins the 12C and sold-out P1 ina three-pronged McLaren Cars lineup.
McLaren says the 650S showcases a new ‘family’ design language and it does look distinctly different to the other models.
Of course, power comes from a 475kW678Nm version of the British-built M838T twin-turbo V8 mounted mid-ships and gaining cool air from beautiful side intakes. Zero to 100km/h is breathtaking at 3.0 seconds (aided by the 650S being 6.0kgs lighter than the 12C).
Yet McLaren has worked hard on optimized fuel consumption and the 650S averages 11.7l/100kms.
And McLaren has kitted the 650S inside (alcantara standard, leather optional) so it can easily be an ‘every day’ car.
No word yet on local plans.
