American EV maker Tesla appear to finally be able to keep up a stream of good news. After announcing this week their first quarterly profit in the last two years (and only the third such announcement in the company’s history), company CEO Elon Musk (who is no longer the chairman) has taken to Twitter to let the world know that Model 3 production is ramping up, and that expected delivery promises will be fulfilled for the compact model.

A twitter user named Martin Hungerford asked Musk what’d become of Australian Model 3 deliveries, after Hungerford noticed that the delivery date on his reserved Model 3 had disappeared from the website. He said that last he checked it stated “late 2019.”

Additionally, it seems that not only will Australia be getting the Model 3 “around mid 2019,” but so will other right-hand drive markets like the UK. Perhaps as right-hook orders are delivered (these have been low-priority from the get-go), Tesla will begin to bring about the entry-level, attractively-priced variant of the Model 3 that hooked quite a number of buyers from the very beginning.

In order to keep cashflow healthy, Tesla has been favouring the more complex & expensive variants of the Model 3 (like the dual-motor long-range variant, as well as the Performance flagship) as the profit margins on those cars ensured the lights stayed on in Tesla’s facilities. But now that the company’s finally raking money back in again, it’s time for them to move forwards, with new models and a proposed ride-sharing service in the pipeline.
