Takata Airbag Recall Affected Cars

by under Newssafety on 22 May 2015 10:34:02 AM22 May 2015

Takata is at the centre of the biggest automotive recall of all time.  There has now been over 50 million cars officially recalled due to a potentially fatal defect in the airbags, built by the Japanese automotive parts supplier.

Takata Airbag Recall

So far there has been at least six deaths and 100 injuries across 10 manufacturers.

The reason for the recall is due to a faulty seal that is allowing moisture in to airbag inflators.  As a result "over-aggressive combustion" is causing occupants to possibly be sprayed with metal fragments from the airbag mechanism.
