Subaru plans to deliver more freedom to Impreza hatchback buyers with the launch of the ‘go-anywhere’ XV model which first appeared earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show..
Featuring 30mm higher ride height and wheel arch protectors amongst its extra features, the Impreza XV is designed to tackle slightly more rugged weekend adventures than standard Impreza models allow.
Impreza XV is priced at $27,490 (five-speed manual) and $29,490 (four-speed automatic).
Externally the new Impreza variant is distinguished by a new grille, front and rear bumpers, roof rails, a roof spoiler, fog lights, 16-inch alloy wheels, an exhaust pipe cover and those protective moulded wheel arch extensions.
In side there are unique sports seats with mocha accents, climate control air-conditioning, leather for the steering wheel, handbrake and gear lever plus a 10-speaker audio system with iPod, USB and Bluetooth.
Underneath the suspension has been revised to suit the extra ride height and enhance off-road performance.
The engine remains Subaru’s 2.0-litre, four-cylinder Boxer unit with 110kW/196Nm.
Subaru says the Impreza XV extends the ‘crossover’ concept to provide buyers with extra potential for leisure pursuits.
“For five days a week you have a Subaru hatchback with all its inherent strengths – all-wheel-drive, Boxer engine, five-star safety, outstanding road holding, ride and handling qualities, with a long and detailed list of standard equipment. Then on non-week days you have a vehicle to explore and exploit your lifestyle and recreation pursuits,” explained Subaru Australia’s Managing Director, Nick Senior.
