Subaru Excited about Exiga

Subaru fans were intrigued at the Melbourne Motor Show by a sneak-peek of the all-new Exiga.

The newcomer is a full-size 4WD wagon which will fit between the Outback and Tribeca models.

Subaru says the Exiga will go on-sale in November and was careful to point-out the model displayed in Melbourne was a Japanese domestic market version - so expect interior trim materials and other features to be different when local sales commence.

The Exiga is a six-seat family wagon with Subaru’s 2.5-litre horizontally-opposed Boxer engine under the bonnet, driving all four wheels via a standard six-speed automatic transmission.

Expect the Exiga to be comprehensively equipped as Subaru reckon a DVD entertainment system will be standard for both second and third row seats. The second-row features two individual seats - like BMW X6 - while the third row (which can be folded away when not needed) is a bench seat for two passengers.

And expect the family-oriented Exiga to continue Subaru’s tradition for engineering prowess, high standards of build quality and excellent driving dynamics.

Australia will be the first export market for Exiga and Subaru will not announce pricing until the November launch – we’d be guessing a starting price in the area of $40,000.
