Subaru lifted the covers from its all-new BRX sports car at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The BRZ is the vehicle developed in collaboration with Toyota’s FT86 and the version shown at Frankfurt features a transparent body to highlight the drivetrain.
A front engine/rear-wheel-drive sports car, the BRZ runs an all-new ‘FA’ model 2.0-litre ‘Boxer’ engine. To aid weight distribution and aerodynamics, the engine sits 120mm lower and 240mm closer to the centre than any previous Subaru vehicle.
The Subaru BRZ is 4.2-metres long, 1.7-metres wide, has a wheelbase of 2.57-metres and is only 1.27-metres high. With short front and rear overhangs and Subaru’s acknowledge chassis prowess we’re told to expect and dynamic handling sports car when the BRZ goes into production early next year.
Subaru Australia is yet to decide whether the BRZ will head ‘downunder’.
