Audi, Chrysler, Hyundai, Mazda, MINI and Subaru were amongst the brands reporting sales success during June
Defying the tough economic conditions, German brand Audi – celebrating its centenary this month – actually achieved an all-time sales record in June with 1,119 sales.
In a market down 16.1 per cent overall, Audi has sold 5,611 vehicles during the first six months of this year – 10 per cent better than the corresponding six months in 2008.
It was a similar story at Hyundai with 7,862 vehicles sold in June, the company’s best-ever monthly sales result. Of the top 10 best-selling brands in Australia, Hyundai was the only brand to deliver increased sales during the first six months of the year, posting six consecutive months of monthly year-on-year growth with an average increase of 21 per cent.
Mazda also reported its strongest sales month ever with 8,406 sales in June – smashing its previous best of 7,565 sales set in March last year. In fact Mazda has raised its sales target for 2009 to forecast 70,000 sales.
Subaru’s Impreza model set an all-time record in June with 1,568 sales while MINI delivered 191 units – its strongest month since May last year – and recorded its best-ever monthly order with 284 secured for delivery.
Combined Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge sales were up 17.8 per cent over June with 914 sales ranking the Australian operation as the company’s number two export market behind China.
