Hyundai used the Australian International Motor Show (Sydney) to wheel-out ‘SR’ versions of the Accent and i30 hatchback. The SR branding was started by the racy Hyundai Veloster SR turbo.
Hyundai says the concept of SR is to deliver fun, affordable and desirable performance vehicles.
Bothe the cars displayed – Accent SR and i30 SR – can be easily distinguished outside thanks to their chrome and red ‘SR’ logo and subtle body enhancements.
The Hyundai i30 SR is based on the Elite grade hatchback and gains extra power and torque from the 2.0-litre direct-injection petrol engine (130kW/213Nm), fog lights, LED DRLs, some leather trim with red cloth inserts, a sports front grille, rear diffuser and 17-inch alloy wheels.
Hyundai Accent SR is also based on the Elite version and also gains more power from the 1.6-litre direct injection petrol engine (103kW/167Nm), projector beams headlights, a larger rear spoiler, rear park assist, some leather trim with red cloth inserts, climate control, air-conditioning, dark metallic finish interior trim highlights, 5-inch touch-screen audio and 16-inch alloy wheels
.
Hyundai is keen to move forward with its SR range and if customer feedback at the motor show is positive, the new models could be rolled out sometime next year.
