The new MINI Seven special edition harkens back to the brand's mid 20th century British heritage.

MINI has unveiled a new special edition of their third-generation hatch called the Seven which takes its name from the original Morris Mini’s British heritage, recalling the Austin Seven.

It should arrive in Australia some time within 2016 with no changes or adaptations to speak of to cater for our local market.

What does this get you? The limited edition styling pack is available for 3 door and 5 door variants and also features distinct interior trim and more tech to go along with the unique exterior.

Speaking of, there are three new alternative paint finishes for MINI Seven buyers. Each one brings a contrasting accent colour to the roof, exterior mirror caps, door sills, hood stripes, and MINI Seven logos. The main exterior finish you see here, however, is dubbed Lapisluxury Blue, a colour that they’re adamant is the most intense blue you’ve ever seen on a MINI. It’s also “blue of kings”, apparently.

Inside, the seats are a mixture of fabric and leather finished in what MINI calls Diamond Malt Brown, paired to surfaces in Piano Black with a factory customisable MINI Seven logo on the instrument cluster.

There’s also the add-on equipment package that will stretch the car’s name to MINI Seven Chili. It brings LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, front and rear LED fog lamps, sports leather steering wheel, adaptive cruise control, a more informative trip on-board computer, and automatic air conditioning.

Like the standard MINI 3-door and 5-door, the MINI Seven comes with the usual spread of turbocharged petrol and diesel engines starting with the 100kW 1.5-litre three-cylinder TwinPower unit, or a 141kW 2.0-litre 4-cylinder for the Cooper S. Diesel options are the 85kW 1.5-litre three-cylinder and a 125kW 2.0-litre 4-cylinder for the Cooper SD guise.
