We have to say, we’re taking to that face.
Czech marque Skoda are preparing for the upcoming Geneva motor show in a big way, with what appears to be an SUV-coupé concept ready to take the stand and command the attention of all in its vicinity. This is because it’s got just the right combination of things to grab eyeballs: SUV stance + Coupé roofline + Zero emissions. It’s like the Goldilocks of concept cars.
The Vision iV comes in the wake of the Vision E, the Kodiaq-sized zero-emissions SUV that would represent the dimensional-maximum that Skoda would want to explore on its Group-supplied MEB platform. It’s long been understood that Vision E would be the mainstream model, meaning that the iV would then naturally be seen as the more ‘emotional’ prospect.
The teaser sketches released show off a car that certainly evokes words like ‘dynamic’ and ‘athletic,’ and it’s certainly pretty future-focused with its cameras-for-mirrors and angular LED headlights. The overall look is one of aggression and sportiness, and we’ve no doubt that the Vision iV will preview a car that’ll make full use of its EV thrust & low centre of gravity.
The Vision iV will most certainly be a product of Skoda’s investment of over AU$3.6-billion (£2-billion) into ‘alternative propulsion,’ with more than 10 electrified models planned for showroom floors by 2022.
