Skoda Teases Kodiaq RS – Most Powerful Diesel Skoda Ever

The 2018 Paris Motor Show will play host to quite a number of world debuts, but what’s piqued our interest today comes from VW-owned Czech brand Skoda. Their Kodiaq SUV, the first of its kind for Skoda, has brought such great fortunes back into the Simply Clever marque that they’ve found a new way to push its limits: By fitting the most powerful diesel engine they’ve ever produced to it, and hooning it around the Nurburgring.

Having shoehorned a 2.0-litre biturbo diesel mill under the bonnet and coaxing ‘Ring Queen’ Sabine Schmitz into the drivers seat, the Kodiaq RS has already bagged the title for the fastest 7-seat SUV around the fabled German track, with a lap time of 9:29.84. And soon, you’ll have a chance to bring it home.

Interestingly, while we know that the Kodiaq RS will certainly come with big, bright alloys and a decisively-aggro bodykit, it seems that the new fast Skoda will also come with a new badge. The ‘RS’ badge has been reworked, and now only includes a red element to its design, as opposed to previously where there was a green slash to it as well.

Expect to find the new RS badges applied liberally to the Kodiaq RS, reminding yourself and alerting others that you have 176kW and 500Nm under the bonnet. Century sprint times have yet to be revealed, though we expect them to be impressive with that torque number. With the Paris motor show opening its doors in October, be sure to stay glued to CarShowroom as we bring you more updates as they come.
