Power on- and off-road are the focus here.

Czech carmaker Skoda is very excited about what it intends to showcase on its stand at the upcoming Paris motor show it seems. And like a child with a full bladder, it hasn’t remained leak-free ahead of time, and so Skoda’s spilled some beans on what its stand in Pavilion 4 will host.

The highlight (for us at least) is the Kodiaq RS, the first-ever RS-badged SUV for the marque. With the most powerful turbodiesel engine Skoda’s ever used (rated at 176kW), the Kodiaq RS has already clinched the title of the fastest 7-seater SUV on the fabled Nurburgring (with a 9min 29.84sec time). Naturally its looks are paired with a revised exterior, with gloss-black applied on exterior trim pieces, full-LED headlights up front, Alcantara/‘carbon-leather’ upholstery, and an RS-specific virtual cockpit.

Beyond that are the two smaller Czech SUVs, the Karoq Sportline and the Karoq Scout. Starting off with the Sportline, the new ‘warm’ Karoq model debuts a 2.0-litre TSI engine for the first time in the baby Skoda SUV, with 140kW on tap (though a 110kW TSI engine is also available, as well as diesels in 110kW and 140kW tunes). Like the bigger Kodiaq RS, the Karoq Sportline too sports a variety of black elements that “underline its dynamic appearance.” Black sports seats clad in an “innovative” fabric are set off with silver-coloured stitching. The Karoq Sportline is available as either a front-driven car, or an all-wheel drive model.

The last of the production-car trio is the Karoq Scout, a more adventurous, off-road capable version of the little Skoda SUV. The Karoq Scout comes as standard with all-wheel drive no matter which of the engines you choose (110kW or 140kW diesel, or 110kW petrol). Exterior elements in silver plastic underline the all-terrain protection the Karoq Scout has been offered, while chrome trim around the grille and windows makes sure it doesn’t look too utilitarian in town. Riding on standard 18-inch alloys (19-inch units optional) under “distinctive” wheel arches, the Karoq Scout also features a cabin with Piano Black trim, and dark ash-wood effect decorative strips.

More details on the Kodiaq RS, and Karoq Sportline & Scout will be revealed when the Paris motorshow opens its doors in exactly a week’s time. Be sure to stay tuned to CarShowroom as we bring you more updates as they come.
