SKODA has added a sixth model to its model lineup with the arrival of a new sub-compact model called Citigo. The SKODA Citigo will be launched in SKODA’s Czech Republic home market late this year and will roll-out to other European markets from the second quarter of 2012.
Available in three-door and five-door variants, the four-seat Citigo takes SKODA into the volatile sub-compact segment for the first time. The good-looking newcomer is powered by two versions of a 3-cylinder, 1.0-litre engine delivering 44kW/95Nm or 55kW/95Nm and driving through a five-speed manual transmission.
Fuel consumption is as low as 3.5l/100kms and exhaust C02 emissions are rated at 97g/km.
While the front-end look is distinctly SKODA, the Citigo measures just 3.56-metres in length, 1.65-metres in width and stands 1.48-metres high. Luggage capacity is impressive at 951-litres (seats folded) or 251-litres (seats in place).
As usual with a Volkswagen brand, technology abounds and the SKODA Citigo includes a removable five-inch screen navigation system.
Safety is also top-shelf – including ‘City Safe Drive’ laser-guided collision avoidance and SKODA’s first application of Head-Thorax side airbags.
