BMW has issued a strong challenge to its European rivals by announcing no change to the entry-level price for its new X3 compact SUV lineup which goes on-sale locally next march.
The three-model range is:
BMW X3 xDrive20d $62,200
BMW X3 xDrive28i $71,900
BMW X3 xDrive30d $74,900
The newcomer is the xDrive28i which replaces the current 2.5-litre xDrive25i. BMW says the new 3.0-litre, six-cylinder petrol X3 will deliver 190kW/310Nm (160kW/250Nm was the output of the xDrive25i).
Entry-level xDtive20d models enjoy extra oomph with 135kW/380Nm, while output for the xDrive30d is up considerably to 190kW/560Nm.
As well as the extra under-bonnet performance, the new BMW X3 sees more standard features including BMW’s outstanding eight-speed automatic transmission, upgraded audio with USB and Bluetooth, plus a reversing camera with a high-resolution 6.5-inch colour screen.
There is also a number of BMW EfficientDynamics fuel-saving technologies including automatic start/stop, brake energy regeneration and electric power steering.
On the options list are a head-Up display and the Top View camera system for parking.
