When you don’t need an engine, you can pack other flammables.

2018 Rimac C_Two – California Edition

Croatian EV hypercar makers Rimac certainly know how to party it up, gracing the Monterey Car Week in California with their new C_Two, a 1,408kW silent bullet that’ll cream even Tesla’s new Roadster. But they weren’t content with just shipping their silver show car to the Golden State, as they’ve instead tricked out one model, dubbed it the ‘California Edition,’ and mounted 12-litres of champagne amidship.

Rimac's thrown some unique touches at the C_Two to turn it into the unique California Edition. The blue colour is unique to the Cali car, and also goes as far as the wheel centre caps. The C_Two will be lurking around Rimac’s private events in the lead-up to the Pebble Beach concours, and those lucky enough to attend will be interested to see what’s in back.

The Croatian firm put not one, but two Methuselah-sized champagne bottles (that’s 6-litres each) where a mid-engined car would traditionally have its engine, and then filled the rest of the space with crystal flutes for all to enjoy. Rimac didn’t clarify just how many flutes it had fitted, or how if there was a trick way to dispense it, but there you are.

Priced at roughly $2.86-million, the Rimac C_Two is a fully-electric car, and only 150 of them will be built. Four electric motors and a massive 120kWh battery live beneath its sleek bodywork, producing a combined total of 1,408kW and 2,300Nm, capable of launching the C_Two from rest to 100km/h in 1.97-seconds. Keep your foot in it, and you’ll find yourself hitting a top speed of 415km/h, though doing those speeds will mean you won’t likely reach the maximum battery range of 650km.
