Renault Australia has confirmed 50 examples of the Megane R.S. 275 Trophy-R are headed this way priced at $61,990.
For anyone who has driven the regular Renault Megane R.S. 275, it will come as no surprise to learn the beefed-up Trophy-R version holds the front-wheel-drive lap record around the Nurburgring circuit at 7m54.35s.
The Renault Megane R.S. 275 Trophy-R uses the ‘Cup’ chassis (with a mechanical limited-slip differential) and is powered by a 275kW version of the 2.0-litre petrol R.S engine complete with a titanium Akrapovic exhaust.
Underneath the R.S. 275 Trophy-R runs race track-developed Ohlins adjustabe dampers, composite springs and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres.
Inside are Alcantara-trimmed Recaro ‘Pole Position’ sports seats with polycarbonate backs (42kgs lighter than regular seats), red seat belts and Alcantara trims for the steering wheel and gear-lever At the rear are a strut brace as well as safety nets to secure luggage.
Exterior styling enhancements include a two-tone colour scheme with the ‘Pearl White’ body paint contrasting with a ‘Diamond Black’ roof, 19-inch Speedline ‘Turini’ alloy wheels, ‘Trphy-R’ logos for the F1-style front aero blade and unique graphics.
An optional ‘Nurburgring Accessory Kit’ brings a lightweight lithium-ion battery (saves 15kgs), steel/aluminium brake discs and six-point racing harness seat belts.
Underlying the popularity of R.S. models in this market, Renault Australia’s 50 examples come from a total production run of just 250.
