While Renault’s previous Megane hatchback wasn’t the prettiest car to emerge from France, the all-new Megane range now on sale boasts a very attractive look, a more powerful 2.0-litre petrol engine and very sharp prices – starting at $22,990.
That gives the all-new Renault Megane a pricing edge over rivals like the Volkswagen Golf, Peugeot 308 and Citroen C4.
Renault Australia ahs maintained the existing model grades – entry level Dynamique and range-topping Privilege – and power comes from the excellent 2.0-litre engine delivering 102kW/195Nm (automatic versions score one extra kW).
Drive is to the front wheels via a six-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic.
And while the exterior looks are a great improvement, inside the all-new Renault Megane delivers an excellent look, lots of storage and an up-market feel. Standard on Privilege and optional on Dynamique models is a new satellite navigation system with a center console joystick control.
Privilege versions also score a sunroof, rear parking sensors, leather seats, an upgraded audio system and 17-inch alloy wheels.
With its aerodynamic looks, quality interior and sharp pricing, the all-new Renault Megane definitely should be on the shopping lists of hatchback buyers.
