Renault Gives First Glimpse At All-New Koleos SUV

Renault, though their official Twitter page, has released a video called ‘The Gift’ where we’re given a short and quite limited peek at their next-generation SUV that (if our guess is correct) would succeed the current Koleos.

The timing of this teaser video would suggest that Renault is planning to unveil the mysterious SUV at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show next week.

While there is literally nothing to go on from those few frames shown in the video detailing the fancy new headlamps, which they’ve titled ‘LED Pure Vision’. They do very closely resemble those first seen on the 2015 Renault Talisman, then again on the new Megane, with daytime running lights that run down the car’s front flanks, though not visible during the teaser.

It is believed that the new Koleos would borrow certain key components and technologies from Renault’s group partner, Nissan, and that it will share the platforms with the Nissan X-Trail.

Currently the Renault Koleos (in 4x4 or 4x2 configurations) is offered with a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine or a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel unit, which in Australia generates 126kW and 226Nm of torque or 127kW and 360Nm respectively, mated to either a six-speed manual, six speed torque converter automatic or Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).

That being said, Renault has not disclosed any information as to what new powertrain or convenience technologies will be included/introduced in this all-new SUV. We suppose we’ll all have to wait until Renault unveils the car officially for further details.
