Mazda Australia boss Doug Dickson is all-smiles today after confirmation the Japanese importer recorded an all-time record in 2011 with 88,333 sales. That means for the seventh consecutive year Mazda was Australia’s most popular imported brand.
Mazda3 was Australia’s best-selling small car last year, racking-up 41,429 sales while the Mazda2 was our number one compact car with 17,501 sales.
Significantly, Mazda’s success was achieved with private buyers as the company does not participate in fleet sales to the likes of car rental agencies.
“To see Mazda3 top the sales charts is obviously very pleasing but what’s of far more importance is that both Mazda3 and Mazda2 won pole position in their segments against their direct competitors. For this we are indebted to Australia’s private customers who made Mazda their choice in 2011,” Mr Dickson said.
2012 shapes-up as another boomer year for Mazda with the introduction in a few weeks of the company’s all-new CX-5 compact SUV.
