Mini’s 170kW/320Nm John Cooper Works model – the most powerful Mini so far - has broken cover in Europe ahead of Australia sales next year.
That turbocharged 2.0-litre engine boasts a larger turbo, new pistons and higher compression that the superseded model.
Available with either a six-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual and driving through an electronically-controlled limited-slip differential, the latest Mini John Cooper Works covers zero to 100km/h in 6.1 seconds (auto).
Combined-cycle fuel consumption is listed at 5.7l/100kms (auto) or 6.7l/100kms (manual).
Naturally styling adopts the ‘all-new’ Mini look however the John Cooper Works version again scores unique bumpers (the fronts with extra cool air inlet) and unique 17-inch alloy wheels with Brembo brakes.
Inside are very nicely styled sports seats and the hallmark John Cooper Works sporting touches.
