Range Rover is highlighting its green credentials at next months Geneva Motor Show with the global debut of a plug-in hybrid version of the Range Rover Sport.
Called the ‘Range_e’ the concept model is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel engine with a parallel hybrid drive system which enables the full-size SUV to run purely on electric power. Drive is a via a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission.
Range Rover says the Range_e is one of several hybrid prototypes currently under development at its UK base. The Range-e can drive up to 32kms on pure electric power, has a top speed approaching 200km/h and a range of 1112kms.
Also on-stage for Range Rover in Geneva will be full production versions of the Range Rover Evoque in five-door and coupe derivatives – just ahead of European launch.
And Land Rover will display black and white theme limited editions of the 2011 Discovery 4.
