Range Rover has confirmed it will enter three of its prototype diesel-hybrid Range_e models in November’s RAC Future Car Challenge.
The event runs from Brighton to Pall Mall in London and the challenge is to complete the route in under 3.5-hours using the least energy possible.
Range Rover’s Range-e is based on the Range Rover Sport model and employs the 3.0-litre TDV6 diesel engine with a 69kw electric motor.
It’s a parallel hybrid system and Range Rover says the Range_e can be driven for around 30kms purely on electricity. Re-charging can be done at home using a standard home power socket.
