It’s a double win for the all-new Range Rover Evoque compact SUV with Britain’s ‘TopGear’.
BBC TopGear magazine has named the first down-size Rangie as its 2011 Car Of The Year and high-profile presenter Jeremy Clarkson (never lacking in British patriotism) has named it his favourite new car for this year.
Before setting on the award, the TopGear team – Clarkson and fellow presenters James May and Richard Hammond, as well as magazine editor Charlie Turner took a Range Rover Evoque for a thorough test in Morocco.
As is often the case, the word-wise Clarkson summed things up best. “There have been many great cars launched over the last 12 months…But these are just one-trick ponies. The Evoque is more than that. It’s a pony that is also a racehorse, a shire horse, a dray horse, a show jumper and an easy-rosette winner in the dressage competition. It’s brilliant.”
