Range Rover’s 40th anniversary party – appropriately staged at ‘The Orangery’ in Kensington Palace, London – was the venue for the first official reveal of the brand’s all-new compact SUV.

And now we also know its name – Range Rover Evoque.

2010 RANGE ROVER RANGE ROVER 4D WAGON

Very similar to the LRX concept car, the smallest, lightest and most fuel efficient Range Rover will be launched at the Paris Motor Show on 30 September and will be in local Range Rover dealerships in time for the 2011 NRL and AFL Grand Finals. In total, the new ‘Rangie’ will be sold in more than 160 countries around the world.

Significantly, the Evoque will be available in both all-wheel-drive and two-wheel-drive configurations – as Range Rover moves for a slice of the fastest-growing segment of the SUV market.

And Range Rover fans will be pleased to hear that while the newcomer is a compact SUV, it will not short-change on the traditional range Rover luxury.

The Evoque - Range Rover’s third model line - has created 1,000 extra jobs at the company’s award-winning plant in Halewood, Liverpool – a real boost for the local Merseyside area.
