Maserati’s ‘racer-for-the-street’ Grancabrio MC has now arrived in Australia priced at $355,000.
The good-looking Maserati Grancabrio MC draws on motorsport versions of the GranTurismo and GranTurismo MC Stradale to create a ‘boy-racer’ version complete with an open top.
Changes are substantial – aero modifications make the MC 5.0cms longer and include new front splitters and a broader front lip plus a new, larger rear splitter which required repositioning of the rear exhaust outlets. All-up the mods provide up to 25 per-cent more downforce.
Front guards are from the MC Stradale with larger extraction vents behind the wheels, there’s also extra vents on the bonnet, side skirts and a rear spoiler.
Inside the Maserati Grancabrio MC scores new seats based on the GranTurismo Trofeo race car which have the added benefit of providing an extra 20mm of rear set legroom. For the trim package you can select from carbon fibre, Alcantara, dark chrome of wood lacquer.
The steering wheel is trimmed in Alcanta and runs the larger MC Stradale gearshift paddles.
Power comes from Maserati’s 338kW 4.7-litre V8 driving through the aggressive MC Autoshift transmission with launch control and gear-holding even beyond the rev-limiter in sports mode. Zero to 100km/h is rated at 4.9 seconds.
Underneath is sports suspension which reduces the roll angle in cornering by 10 per-cent.
