Mercedes-Benz Australia has pulled the sheets off its entry AMG performance variants of its W205 C-Class family. These include the C 43 Sedan, Estate and Coupe with prices starting at $101,900.
These three cars aren’t the full fat C 63 with their 4.0-litre turbo V8 engines, but rather the less powerful but still quite potent C 43 tier, powered by a 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbo petrol unit that’s tweaked by AMG to chucks out 270kW and 520Nm delivered to all corners via the 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.
These engines are identical across each body style on offer and are mated to a 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission. Merc says that changes are now sharper shift times have been reduced thanks to optimised transmission software, with a double-declutching function enabled in the Sport and Sport Plus transmission modes.
Each C 43 comes standard with 19-inch AMG wheels, AMG Night Package, Head-up display, AMG Ride Control adaptable sports suspension, Sports exhaust, LED Intelligent Light System, panoramic glass sunroof, heated front seats, COMAND navigation and infotainment system and a Burmester surround sound system.
They also have been fitted 9 airbagis as well as active safety tech such as Collision Prevention Assist Plus with semi-autonomous braking, Active Lane Keeping, Blind spot Assist, Driver Attention Monitor, Active Bonnet, 360-degree camera, and tyre pressure monitoring system.
“The extension of the C-Class family to include the new C 43 models is another component in our growth strategy” said Mercedes-AMG GmbH chairman Tobias Moers. "The ‘43’ models boast the characteristic AMG genes, which are also included in our GT and ‘63’ vehicles, and thus consistently interpret our brand essence of 'Driving Performance' in their segment."
