Impressive updates for Honda’s Civic Hybrid and Insight are headlined by substantial price reductions – the Insight down by $3,000 to $26,990 (VTi) and $30,490 (VTi-L) while the Civic Hybrid drops by $2,000 to $33,390.
The Civic Hybrid gains important extras – satellite navigation, reversing camera, DVD player, DRLs and Smart Entry/push button start – now making it a much better value proposition.
No changes under the bonnet for the Honda Civic Hybrid – the 1.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine with Honda’s Integrated Motor Assist hybrid system good for 82kW/172Nm.
The nicely styled Honda Insight was updated last year (mechanical improvements dropped the combined cycle fuel consumption to an impressive 4.3l/100kms) but, like the Civic Hybrid that price reduction makes sense – $26,990 is identical to Toyota’s i-Tech model Prius V.
