According to comments from Porsche upper management, it seems that the Stuttgart sports car brand won’t be introducing new models to sit below its current ‘entry-point’ models, the 718 twins and the Macan SUV.
Porsche’s sales and marketing head, Detlev von Platen, spoke to portal Automotive News in Los Angeles that the company had “absolutely no intention to go below what we have today.”
“It’s not about quantity, it’s about quality of what we do,” von Platen said. Though more entry-level variants won’t be brought about, Porsche is looking at expanding its lineup, with the Mission E concept sedan already confirmed for production. Aside from that though, von Platen said that they will be developing “new services around the car.”
As of October, the Macan dominates Porsche’s sales figures in Australia, making up for almost half of all sales. It currently maintains a sizeable lead over the runner-up, the Cayenne, by a considerable margin.
