Porsche’s SUV barge gains a heap of value.

Porsche Adds 2017 Cayenne S & S Diesel Platinum Editions

The 2017 Porsche Cayenne lineup has, today, welcomed two new additions to the family. The Cayenne S and Cayenne S Diesel gain ‘Platinum Edition’ trims, which add roughly $12,000 in equipment on top of the standard S cars. With the two new Cayenne Platinums, the unique value-driven trim level is now available on a total of three cars, with the S E-Hybrid Platinum being the third.

A small price walkup from the standard S and S Diesel (a $1300 and $1000 difference respectively) tacks on a healthy amount of kit. The exterior gets a ‘high-gloss black’ exterior package and wheel arch extensions, which host 21-inch Sport Edition wheels. The interiors gain a panoramic sunroof, surround camera system, a central analogue clock, electrically-adjustable Alcantara-centred GTS front seats (which are also heated), and every headrest gets the Porsche badge stamped into it.

Other additional kit includes Power Steering Plus, Bi-Xenon headlamps replete with Porsche Dynamic Light (PDLS) System, and a ‘ConnectPlus’ connectivity suite. ‘Platinum Edition’ scuff plates also line the cabin openings, although they lose the illumination that only the S E-Hybrid sports. There’s also a surround-view monitor and lane change assist.

No mechanical changes are to be found here, with the S Platinum still utilising the 309kW/550Nm turbocharged six-cylinder motor while the S Diesel Platinum uses the familiar 283kW/850Nm V8 turbodiesel from the non-Platinum model. The S Platinum and S Diesel Platinum are available for sale, while customer deliveries are expected around May.
