The two model Cabriolet range – 911 Turbo ($388,800) and 911 Turbo S ($463,100) will have their global unveiling at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 20.

Of course both are powered by different versions of the famed 3.8-litre turbocharged six-cylinder engine (383kW for the 911 Turbo and 412kW for the 911 Turbo S). Zero to 100km/h takes 3.5-seconds and 3.2-seconds and both cars are rated at 9.9l/100kms for fuel consumption (NEDC).

So, compared to their predecessors, for the new 911 Cabriolets, power is up, they’re 0.2-seconds faster for the standing 100km/h and they’re 15 per-cent more fuel efficient.

Both models feature the new PTM all-wheel-drive system, rear axle steering and driver-adjustable active aerodynamics.

Styling is the most adventurous yet with massive rear wheel flares which are actually 28mm wider than the Carrera 4 models. And the ‘panel bow top’ roof with a lightweight magnesium frame takes just 13 seconds to operate and Porsche says provides and arch shape and look identical to the 911 hardtop.

Inside, the Cabriolet models mirror the rest of the 911 range – the S model running those superb adaptive sports seats with 18-way adjustment and carbon-fibre highlights. On the options list are Burmester audio, adaptive cruise control, reversing camera and the camera-based road sign and speed limit recognition system.
