Peugeot is building a new manufacturing facility in India.
To be located in Sanand, near Ahmedabad, the new plant will have a capacity of 170,000 vehicles per year and will create some 5,000 jobs.
Peugeot expects its first Indian-made cars will be sold in 2014.
Peugeot will display its range of cars in January next year at the Delhi Auto Expo.
The announcement, in collaboration with the Indian state of Gujarat, is a strategic move by the French brand as India is tipped to be the world’s third-largest new car market by 2020.
