Peugeot’s EX1 electric concept car is a futuristic two-seater with knockout punch – it’s fast, very fast.
Peugeot decided to showcase the EX1 at the Paris Motor Show as a precursor to the launch of its iOn production electric vehicle.
Powered by two electric motors (with lithium-ion batteries), providing a combined output of 250kW/240Nm and driving all four wheels directly (no transmission), the Peugeot EX1 has already broken world records for standing start acceleration.
The EX1 certainly looks futuristic although there are some styling cues from Peugeot’s just-launched RCZ sports car and the SR1 concept vehicle.
Bodywork for the Peugeot EX1 is a carbon fibre honeycombe composite and the suspension features a drop-link double wishbone set-up at the front and single swing arm at the rear with central shock absorber and rocker arms.
Inside are two seats, tow instrument panels and an aircraft-style ‘joystick’.
Peugeot plans continued development for the EX1 with a view to setting further performance records for electric cars
