Peugeot’s gorgeous RCZ coupe is a Car Showroom favourite and good news from the Paris Motor Show is some extra grunt is on its way and a model update.
Peugeot is showing the RCZ R – a racier version of the RCZ which while strictly a concept you can bet this one is headed for the production line.
Under the bonnet is the same 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine which powers the Citroen DS4 Racing. With 193kW of power, the new engine – a co-development with BMW – will give the RCZ the sort of performance it’s always needed.
In fact Peugeot says the RCZ R will be its most powerful production car.
The car shown in Paris drives the front wheels via a six-speed manual transmission and a new Torsen limited-slip differential.
According to Peugeot, the RCZ R will also feature suspension changes in keeping with its extra performance.
Also debuting in Paris is an update for the RCZ.
On the outside the revisions include a new front-end with split-level two-part grille (the lower section with DRLs), revised headlights and new colours for the roof arches – aluminium matt black or sand – and the roof can be ordered in matt or satin carbon.
Inside is a new selection of trim materials and a new ‘Sound System’ technology to amplify engine noise inside.
