Peugeot’s ‘5 by Peugeot’ concept car looks almost production-ready ahead of its world debut at next month’s Geneva Motor Show.
Power comes from Peugeot’s current ‘Hybrid4technology’, which goes on-sale next year in the new 3008 model. It’s a 2.0-litre HDi diesel engine producing 120kW (and mounted at the front) combined with a rear-mounted 27kW electric motor.
Peugeot claims combined fuel economy as low as 3.8l/100kms and exhaust emissions of only 99g/km.
Styling is along the lines of the SR1 concept car (also to debut at Geneva) but the ‘5 by Peugeot’ is a large-size four-door sedan which rides on 19-inch alloy wheels.
It’s certainly spectacular and streamlined with bold new headlights and the large Peugeot ‘Lion’ on the long bonnet. At the rear, three raised red clusters form the tail-lights and provide a styling cue to previous Peugeot designs.
