Peugeot will highlight its green credentials at the Frankfurt Motor Show with a display headlined by the launch of the Peugeot 508 RXH diesel/electric hybrid.
The RXH differs significantly from regular Peugeot 508 models – its runs all-wheel-drive, a raised ride height, wider track with flared guards and 18-inch wheels.
Under the bonnet, the 2.0-litre HDI diesel is paired with a rear axle-mounted electric motor to provide a combined output of 150kW and fuel consumption as low as 4.0l/100kms.
Peugeot 508 RXH offers four driver-select modes – ‘Auto’, ‘Zero Emissions Vehicle’, ‘Sport’ or ‘4WD’.
The newcomer joins Peugeot’s 3008 Hybrid4 in demonstrating the French company’s advanced fuel-saving technology.
Only 300 examples of the Peugeot 508 RXH will be produced for European customers – all finished in ‘Calern Brown’ paint with luxurious Alcantara leather inside.
Also on the Peugeot stand in Frankfurt will be the unusual HX1 concept six-seater MPV.
With futuristic, edgy looks, the Peugeot HX1 exhibits a very low roofline which exaggerates its 4.93-metre overall length. A long, low look is not the norm for people movers but in the case of the Peugeot HX1 it’s again all about fuel-efficiency and the aerodynamic drag co-efficient for this six-seater is impressively low at just CD 0.28.
Access to the Peugeot HX1’s spacious interior is via four reverse-opening doors.
Power comes from Peugeot’s 2.2-litre HDI diesel (driving the front wheels) and an electric motor which is integrated into the rear axle. Combined output is 225kW and fuel consumption dips as low as just 3.2l/100kms.
The Peugeot HX1 can run as an all-wheel-drive or zero-emissions all-electric (with a range of 30kms) and is a plug-in hybrid.
