Peugeot brings nice European styling to the seven-seat market with its all-new 5008.
The Peugeot 5008 is available in two models – a 115kW/240Nm turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol at $36,990 and a 120kW/340Nm turbocharged 2.0-litre diesel at $40,490. Both drive through a six-speed automatic transmission. The only option is leather seats which adds $3,500.
On the standard equipment front, the all-new Peugeot 5008 ticks lots of boxes – 17-inch alloy wheels, satellite navigation with an integrated fold-out seven-inch colour screen, rear multimedia entertainment system with twin seven-inch screens, retractable blinds for the second and third seating rows, a large panoramic glass roof and a rear parking camera.
Safety is impressive too with six airbags as standard including side curtain airbags which inflate to include the third row seats.
Inside is a clever seating arrangement with the third row offset so those seated outback have a better view of the road ahead. The three second-row seats afford slide and recline functions and can be folded flat individually for load-carrying versatility. Even the front passenger seat folds flat, enabling cargo up to 2.76-metres to be carted.
Access to the third row is easy with Peugeot devising a clever ‘cinema’ positioning of the outer seats in the second row – in one movement the second row seat bases and backs fold for uninhibited entry/exit for those seated in the third row.
Luggage space is massive with 758-823-litres (depending on the position of the sliding third-row seats) or 2,506-litres with the seats folded.
Underneath, the Peugeot 5008 shares much with the handy 308 – including the nicely set-up MacPherson strut front-end with its sophisticated drop-link anti-roll bar.
