Hot hatch fans cross your fingers and toes Peugeot Australia is successful in current negotiations for this car – the 308 GTi by Peugeot Sport.
Powered by a turbocharged 1.6-litre engine (200kW or 184kW versions) driving through a Torsen limited-slip differential, the 308 GTi by Peugeot Sport is what happens when the guys at head office call-in the motorsport guys to develop a new weapon…erm, make that new car.
No aspect of the 308 GTi was left untouched as the same team responsible for the awesome RC Z got to work developing Peugeot ultimate hot hatch.
We’re talking zero to 100km/h in six seconds – half a second faster than Volkswagen Golf GTI.
And it certainly looks the business with its razor sharp combination of ‘Ultimate Red’ and ‘Perla Nera Black’ paintwork , an 11mm reduction in ride height and terrific 19-inch alloy wheels running Michelin Super Sport rubber.
Up front there are significant sporty styling enhancements including two front spoilers.
The rear sees a tailgate made from lightweight composite material.
Inside is the usual black with red highlights combination plus handsome leather and Alcantara sports seats and Peugeot’s instantly recognizable compact sports steering wheel.
And underneath is a unique suspension set-up which is stiffer in every department and has more than double the negative camber on the front wheels than a standard Peugeot 308.
Here’s hoping Peugeot Australia gets the green light for this baby!
